Brooklyn (they/them) is a non-binary Pilipinx performing artist. Originally from Winters, CA, Brooklyn earned their B.A. in Theatre & Performance Studies at UC Berkeley in 2018. They have performed professionally with Broadway at Music Circus and the Sacramento Opera Company, and are an alumnus of the Open Jar Institute in New York City where they studied under Broadway directors and choreographers including Jeff Whiting and James Gray.

Brooklyn grew up as a competition dancer with training in ballet, pointe, jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, modern, tap, hip-hop, improvisation, Filipino folk, Polynesian, and aerial arts. Brooklyn also has an extensive music background as a Suzuki trained violinist and multi-instrumentalist, and is an award-winning vocalist in opera and musical theatre. In 2012, they were designated a California Arts Scholar and awarded the Governor’s Medallion after graduating from the classical music program at the California State Summer School for the Arts.

In addition to the arts, Brooklyn has a love for science and math and completed the Mills College pre-medical graduate program in 2023. They are extremely passionate about approaching performance as a healing art, and always strive to create a learning environment of inclusivity and self-respect. Through their teaching, Brooklyn places an emphasis not only on how to perform but also why we perform and in what ways we can use our artistic skills to benefit both ourselves and those around us.

My daughter has been dancing since she was 3 years old. Now at age 11 she has really come to her own as a dancer. At Dance/10 she is not restricted to taking only one type of dance she has the option to participate in all forms of dance.
