Frequently Asked Questions
Why do adult dancers need to "re-audition" each year?

“Re-auditioning” each year is not about proving yourself; it is part of what makes our Company community strong. Each season, we welcome new dancers who are interested in joining, and auditioning together gives us the opportunity to see how everyone moves and connects as a group. It helps us thoughtfully build teams, visualize how new members will complement our returning dancers, and celebrate how far you have come. It is also a meaningful way to show up, stay engaged, and continue challenging yourself, which is at the heart of what Company is all about.

Do I need prior competitive dance experience to audition?

No prior competitive dance experience is required, but dancers should have some foundational dance training. If you are unsure whether you or your dancer is ready, we encourage you to reach out. We are happy to discuss their level and if they are ready for this step.

Can I audition if I am new to Dance/10?

Absolutely! We welcome all dancers. If you are new to Dance/10, we recommend enrolling in classes before or alongside the audition season so we can get to know you and your dancing.

What happens after auditions? How are placements decided?

After auditions, our instructors and judging panel carefully evaluate each dancer and place them in the group where they will grow and thrive the most. Placements are based on technique, maturity, and readiness for commitment, not just ability alone.

What is the difference between Ensemble and Performance Team?

Both are youth Company pathways, but they differ in schedule intensity and competitive involvement. Ensemble offers a supported, growth-focused experience with a lighter competitive schedule. Students in this pathway cannot do duo/trios or solos.

Performance Team is our full competitive pathway, participating in regional events, conventions, and Nationals. Placement into each group is determined through the audition process.

What if we cannot make the audition date?

Please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee placement outside of the scheduled audition dates.

How much does Company cost?

Company tuition, competition fees, and costume costs vary by group and pathway. Full details will be shared at our company parent/dancer meeting. This meeting is required, and we try to offer multiple dates to accommodate everyone’s schedules.

Dates will be provided when the company placements are sent out.

When does the Company season start and end?

The Company season runs year-round, beginning in mid-August and concluding at the end of the National competition in July. Each pathway may have slight variations in its schedule.

Is there an Info Session I can attend before deciding?

Yes! We host a Zoom Info Session before auditions where you can learn about our Company groups, the audition process, and what to expect for both youth and adult pathways. Sign up using the link at the top of the page.

My daughter has been dancing since she was 3 years old. Now at age 11 she has really come to her own as a dancer. At Dance/10 she is not restricted to taking only one type of dance she has the option to participate in all forms of dance.
