Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to some of the most common questions regarding how we operate, our programs, and what students can expect at Dance/10.

What types of classes do you offer?
We offer classes in jazz, tap, ballet/pointe, acrobatics, lyrical/modern, musical theater, hip hop, voice, acting and ballroom.

What is the age range to participate at Dance/10?
We offer classes for students ranging in age from 3 years to Adult.

My child is 13 years old and has never danced before, can he/she still take classes?
Yes, we offer classes for children and teens of all levels (beginner through pre-professional). We offer classes in each style of dance for all levels.

Does my child need to audition to take classes?
There is not a formal audition process for class placement. However, class placement is done at the discretion of the director and or teachers. Specific class placement is based upon age, ability, and experience.

May I or my child take classes whenever I/he/she wants and what type of a commitment is expected?
Our program runs for 11 months from September through July. Class attendance is extremely important for your child’s progress. For all classes there is a two month commitment for lessons. There is a drop in program available to adult students.

Do you have a recital?
Yes. We have two (low pressure) recitals each year. In December we have a recital to showcase our progress from the beginning of the year. In late June we have our final recital which allows for our dancers to perform for their parents and friends to see what they have learned throughout the year. It also gives students a chance to enhance their performance skills.

Am I allowed to watch my child in class?
All Academy of Little Star classes have parent observation day during the first class of every month. This is at the discretion of each teacher. There is a closed circuit TV in our lobby so that parents may view classes with out causing any distraction to students, otherwise parents are not allowed in the class because it hinders the teachers to ability to maintain the students’ focus.

How do I register my child for the 2007-08 Dance Year?
You can register by mail, by phone, or in person.
